naturesplus.com/blogs/healthy-living/what-can-i-substitute-for-salt "If you need to cut your sodium intake, cooking with new flavors may be your best bet. “We often tell people to take things away from their diet, but I prefer to emphasize adding things, in this case herbs and spices,” says dietitian Gavin Pritchard, RD. The difference? Spices are generally used in dried form; herbs, fresh. To start, go through your spice cabinet and toss anything that’s more than six months old (dust on the cap or can top is a good indicator that a spice needs to go)...." My notes: When they talk about reducing salt, they mean regular table salt. Pink Himalayan Sea Salt has minerals that our bodies need. Of course as with everything, moderation.

Not yet. I do not see any need to get rid of anything that we use regularly.

Pink Himalayan Sea Salt is a staple in my kitchen. We haven't used regular table salt for a very long time.

I wonder what a Himalayan salt is. Because Himalayas are far far from the sea.

spg, Good video! Thank you for sharing Yes, it is expensive but we buy it in bulk so it helps cut the cost. Not to mention the health benefits.

I don't generally add salt to my food. If you don't use salt, then you grow to enjoy the way food tastes without it. If I ever do add salt to my food, I usually regret it because it's so overwhelmingly salty. XD

They can be quite tasty in their original forms. Now I have to say too, conventional produce doesn't have as much of a taste as organic does. While I eat conventional tomatoes, I do prefer organic ones 'cos the taste is more pronounced. The best is having it from your own garden!

There are healthy sugar substitutes. But not sure whether they have any side effects.

There are healthy sugar substitutes. But not sure whether they have any side effects. I use Stevia & MonkFruit quite often. They are from a plant & been used for a long time.

You don't have to be afraid of salt as long as you take it in moderation. But sadly most of our foods already contain salts (sauce, breads, jams, canned foods, you name it) therefore, adding more will only increase your salt intake.

ZandraJoi , First time hearing this pink himalayan salt and never knew it benefits by being an Indian. Himalayas has more strength where rich herbs are grown on those mountains and it is famous for us. It is below $1 only here for 500 grams, I will give try, but did you seen any good things compared to normal salt?

It doesn't have an overly salty taste like regular table salt does. It's great for replacing electrolytes especially when it's hot out.
